Who I Am

I'm Iman Atarof, going by imaarov online. Computer engineering undergrad, and mostly just someone who likes taking things apart, in software or in general, until I actually understand how they work.

I don't really settle for "it works." If I use something, I want to know what's happening underneath it, down to the bytes if I have to. That's basically the whole reason this blog exists.

What I've Been Into

Before any of this, I was already drawn to C and low-level stuff, that's kind of always been the itch. Then I spent about 4-5 years doing web development, building things, shipping things, the usual path.

At some point that started feeling less interesting to me. I found myself wanting to go lower, closer to the hardware, rather than higher up the stack. So lately I've been moving into embedded systems, which honestly feels like coming back to what I actually wanted to do in the first place.

Outside of that, I like math, mostly discrete structures and linear algebra, and I end up reading a lot of RFCs and specs for fun, which is how projects like the steganography one on this blog happen.
